Testing Your Boundaries

Advertisements

Guest, Kelly Sayre, Founder, and Owner of the Diamond Arrow Group will join Host Shannon Zeeman of Active Shooter.

You have set your boundaries and decided how you are going to enforce them. Great! How will you know when someone is testing them? Does that person even realize they are crossing the line? Shannon and Kelly talk about the different tactics used to test boundaries and what the intent may be. People with low social skills may not even recognize they are in your space or making you uncomfortable with their behavior. Everyone’s personal space needs are different, even during a pandemic! It is not rude to have and enforce boundaries, so no apologies necessary.

Our guest this week, Kelly Sayre, Founder, and Owner of the Diamond Arrow Group, believes all women can learn how to be more situationally aware to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. She took self-defense classes, firearm safety courses and browsed all the tools marketed to women to carry for their protection- but what she couldn’t find was someone talking to women about how to spot a potentially dangerous situation BEFORE it happened. That is when her company, The Diamond Arrow Group, was born. An arrow through a diamond symbolizes “courage moving forward” and her mission is to help women build their confidence so they can move forward and live life on their own terms. Kelly is a life-long learner and has been researching and studying resources on situational awareness for years. She is an endorsed 500 rising instructor. She took all that knowledge and created training, keynote presentations, and one-on-one coaching programs, with the everyday woman in mind. She draws on her vast research and knowledge to help women understand how to use life skills they already have, for their personal safety.

The Role of Fear in Goal Setting

Advertisements

Finding Your Holy Grail helps people navigate the post-pandemic reality we now find ourselves in.

The show’s host, Dr. Mandy Simon supports the audience to build skills for resilience to live fearless in an uncertain world. As we head into the beginning of 2021, the show takes a deep dive into key themes that affect our ability to set and achieve our goals in life.

In this episode, Dr. Mandy Simon explores The Role of Fear in Goal Setting. She is joined by Dr. Gordon MacMillan, the show’s co-creator. It’s an important topic – defining priorities, articulating milestones, and realizing goals actually allows us to move forward in our lives according to an agenda which we set.

Join us throughout January as we unpack the forces that determine if you set goals that you can actually achieve. Successful goal setting is all about understanding our own individual perception of fears, level of resilience, belief systems, and our blind-spots.

These aspects drive the way we make decisions in life and determine the extent to which we can realize our goals and aspirations – whatever they might be. In this episode, we unpack fear to expose unseen forces that motivate our behaviors.

Please join in and listen to this discussion on The Role of Fear with Dr. Mandy Simon and Dr. Gordon MacMillian:  Click here to listen…

On January 1st be sure to set and write down your goals for the year. Then follow along with us each week as we look closely at the topics of fear, resilience, belief systems, and blind-spots. And definitely fill in your workbooks each week. At the end of the month, we will take what you learned each week you can where needed modify the goals you wrote down on January 1st This is so they reflect the goals you can ACTUALLY achieve and NOT just the goals you wrote down!

The Show’s Call to Action for this week is for listeners to:

  1. Write down all the repeating patterns in their lives. For example, are you constantly late for meetings, do you still have tons of debt you can’t seem to get rid of, do your romantic relationships always end in the same way? Whatever it is for you.
  2. What do these repeating patterns cost you in your life? Personally, and professionally.
  3. Write down at least 3 fears you have that you are aware of. Write down at least 3 fears you were never aware of having, but can realize now from doing these exercises and listening to this show. For example, you never realized that giving up eating chocolate was subconsciously linked to the love and safety of eating your mother’s chocolate cake as a child. And now you eat lots of chocolate because this subconsciously makes you feel safe and loved.

The Need For Boundaries

Advertisements

Finding Your Holy Grail helps people navigate the post-pandemic reality we now find ourselves in.

Over the last 10 weeks, the show’s host, Dr. Mandy Simon has interviewed experts, supporting the audience to build skills for resilience to live fearless in an uncertain world. As we head into the beginning of 2021, the show takes a deep dive into key themes that have emerged as priorities to the audience.

In this episode, Dr. Mandy Simon explores The Need for Boundaries. She is joined by Dr. Gordon MacMillan, the show’s co-creator. It’s an important topic – creating and enforcing our boundaries with others actually permits us to develop deeper relationships in our lives.

We all have the need to be heard and to be treated with respect. And in turn, this is how we should be treating others. To do this, we must put ourselves first. And therein lays the challenge. Above all, we must find our voices and stand our ground. This is a deep and fundamental part of who we all are.

The show’s co-creators explore boundaries that are tangible and intangible – the unseen, energetic, boundaries that can empower us or deplete us in profound ways. In the words of Brené Brown: “Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.”

Join in and listen to this very informative discussion with Dr. Mandy Simon and Dr. Gordon MacMillian: Click here to listen…

The Show’s Call to Action is for listeners to write down how:  The need for Boundaries is manifesting in their own lives. These boundaries can be seen or unseen.

  1. The cost of not having boundaries in place in our personal and/or professional lives.
  2. The effect of the need (or lack) of boundaries in terms of our relationship to those we love. And as was the case in the first scenario this will include boundaries seen and unseen.

Should NCAA Postpone During The COVID Pandemic

Advertisements

Dan Riley Host of Sports Talk will be discussing NCAA.

When Keyontae Johnson passed out on the floor, the NCAA should’ve put plans in motion to postpone further basketball for a month.   If Johnson’s hospital trip was a COVID issue, basketball shouldn’t be a concern for 30 days. Quarantine teams. Test guys. Wait 30 days to finish out the season.  Because NCAA basketball cannot become life or death instead of a mere stepping stone to the NBA.

Our Need for Safety

Advertisements

Finding Your Holy Grail helps people navigate the post-pandemic reality we now find ourselves in.

Over the last 10 weeks, the show’s host, Dr. Mandy Simon has interviewed experts, supporting the audience to build skills for resilience to live fearless in an uncertain world. As we head into the beginning of 2021, the show takes a deep dive into key themes that have emerged as priorities to the audience.

In this episode, Dr. Mandy Simon explores Our Need For Safety. She is joined by Dr. Gordon MacMillan, the show’s co-creator. It’s an important topic – When we feel safe, we can logically function outside of overwhelming and feeling out of control.

The conversation is framed by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This is the theory that all humans before they can be productive members of society require the basic needs of food, shelter, and water prior to being able to consider our more advanced human process of dreaming and creating, and even goal setting.

For many in the audience, the physiological needs of food, water, shelter are still being met. Even so, we don’t feel safe. There’s something about wearing a facemask, staying inside, not interacting with other people, which makes us feel isolated and inhuman. This erodes the quality of our social interactions and can have a detrimental impact on our bonds of affection.

This show relates what so many of us are feeling each day, and how we explore recognizing all we have lost control of during these times. How can we hope to dream and set goals and realize the important and amazing people and lives we were living and planning when the pandemic emerged? To thrive and not just survive the show’s hosts encourage the audience to explore three fundamental aspects where the Need for Safety is interrupting their ability to feel deeply connected to themselves and others.

Join in and listen to this very informative discussion with Dr. Mandy Simon and Dr. Gordon MacMillian:   Click here to listen…

The Show’s Call to Action is to write down 3-5 things that explain:

  • How the need for safety is being manifest in your life.
  • What the need for safety is costing you (personally and/or professionally).
  • How the need for safety is affecting your relationships and those you love.
